Rockschool Music is UK based with UCAS points and its qualification is globally recognised. In fact, Rockschool is the leading rock and pop music exam board. Since 1991, Rockschool has been developing unique graded music exams for the contemporary musicians. RSL Classical is the newest addition to RSL Awards’ graded music exam portfolio. RSL Awards is an international awarding body based in London, UK. Over the last 33 years, RSL has changed the landscape of Creative Industries education, working with partners in over 50 countries and 6 different continents.

Shion Music is also involved in retail business focussing on selected range of products & brands suitable for both beginner and seasoned musicians. We also sell gear and equipment suitable for live performance on stage and in studio.

The word ‘Shion’ literally means ‘poem sound’ in Japanese. Poetry is a form of literary art which uses rhythmic qualities of language in expressing thoughts and emotions. With that ‘definition’ as the underlying basis of what SHION MUSIC is about, we strive to offer MORE THAN JUST MUSIC to our customers, beyond value-for-money products and service excellence.

Our music courses are designed for anyone from age 4 onwards. Yes, there is no age limit! The oldest we had was a 72 years old Navy retiree who came to learn drums to fulfil his childhood dream and he even sat for Rockschool exam twice! And he passed with distinction for Grade Debut and Grade 1.

We follow a systematic approach using Rockschool and RSL Classical as syllabus. Both syllabuses are under RSL Awards, a world renowned accreditation body from UK. We are the official exam center in Perak. The syllabus provides a progression of grades from Grade Debut to Grade 8, then Diploma.

Exam is optional. But we encourage all our students to go for it. Yet we still use the syllabus to teach for various reasons below:

1. Systematic learning;
2. Students can clearly know their progress from point A to Point B, we can keep track of students’ progress easily;
3. Students can stop any time and resume in future. We know which grade they stopped at;
4. Easy to determine how much fee to charge. Rockschool is a graded exam syllabus from Grade Debut to Grade 8. Different fee for each grade.
5. And to be fair, we also want to make sure students get what they are paying for every month. Often times, when there is no guideline as in no syllabus in use, teachers tend to simply teach based on their mood and feelings. We want to make sure students get the value for money spent.
