Rockschool music qualifications are tailor-made for the contemporary musician. Ranging from introductory grades all the way up to university-level degrees – we ensure your hard work is rewarded by a valuable qualification regardless of your age or musical ability. In striving to serve our local community, SHION MUSIC has been the official Rockschool Examination Centre since 2013. You don’t have to travel far for your exam, which reduces the stress and allows you to stay focus. We believe that the entire process of music learning, including taking graded exams, should be a positive and enjoyable one.
Rockschool Examiners are accomplished music practitioners, with recent experience of teaching popular music and/or relevant industry experience. They need to ensure that RSL qualifications are assessed professionally, reliably and consistently in accordance with its high standards and external regulatory requirements.

UKULELE
The Rockschool Ukulele syllabus has evolved. Master the ukulele with Rockschool’s first fully regulated suite of ukulele grades (Debut – Grade 8), regardless of age or musical ability. Play your part on the instrument everyone loves to play.
The ukulele is in a unique group of instruments with re-entrant tuning. The Rockschool Ukulele syllabus develops instrument-specific techniques through digestible benchmarked topics guaranteed to equip students with the practical skill and theoretical knowledge to perform at the highest possible level, across a range of contemporary styles.

As the glue that holds the band together, Rockschool understands that no band can groove without a bass player who is fully in control of melody and rhythm. As you progress through your grades, you will expand your technical proficiency, develop a solid comprehension of music theory, and ultimately understand the bass’ unique role in the world of popular music.

VOCALS
A Rockschool Vocal Grade will not only improve your singing ability, but expand your technical proficiency, grasp of music theory and appreciation of some of the most influential songs from the past five decades. As a student of music, you will improve your chances in auditions and competitions, whilst elevating your ability to write your own songs in the process.

DRUMS
Drumming demands more than just ‘staying in time’. The drummer is the driving force, the backbone and the foundation of the entire band dynamic. Drummers punctuate, embellish and lead changes in the rhythmic figures of each track. They accentuate a horn section, pick up on guitar riffs, mimic vocal lines and command the rhythm section. Drummers do all this and stay in time.
RSL qualifications are fully regulated by every UK regulatory body & has been an independently regulated awarding organisation in the United Kingdom since 2002.
